Sharing Passwords

Safe gives you two ways to share passwords — a quick one-tap share for a single card, and a shared database for ongoing access with someone you trust.

Share a Single Card

Open any card, tap the three-dot menu (⋮), and choose Share. This sends the card's contents through your device's standard share sheet — you can pick email, WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other app installed on your device.

The card is sent as plain text. The receiving app is responsible for keeping it secure. Prefer an encrypted messenger (Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram) over email or SMS.

Share a Full Database

For ongoing shared access — household accounts, shared subscriptions, a small team — you can create a dedicated shared database that multiple people sync.

How it works:

  1. Create an extra database in Safe — go to Settings → Databases → Add Database.
  2. Set it up with cloud sync using a separate cloud account created specifically for sharing (e.g. a shared Google Workspace account).
  3. Add the passwords you want to share to this database.
  4. Give the other person the cloud account credentials, the database name, and its master password.
  5. They open Safe, go to Settings → Databases → Add Database, and connect to the same database.

Everyone now sees the same database and changes sync automatically across all devices.

Each person has full access. Everyone can add, edit, and delete cards. There is no read-only mode or per-user permissions — keep this in mind when deciding who to share with.
