I Lost My Phone
Your passwords are safe. Without the master password, no one can access your data — it's encrypted with AES-256, and that's true even if someone has the device or the database file.
Protect your cloud account
Revoke access for the lost device from your cloud settings as soon as possible. This prevents the phone from syncing any further changes to your cloud copy.
- Google Drive: myaccount.google.com → Security → Manage devices
- Dropbox: dropbox.com → Security → Devices
- iCloud: appleid.apple.com → Devices
- OneDrive: account.microsoft.com → Devices
Lock or wipe the phone remotely
Use your phone manufacturer's tools to lock or erase the device remotely:
- Android: android.com/find (Google's Find My Device)
- iPhone: iCloud.com → Find My
Getting your passwords back
If you had cloud sync set up, your data is fully recoverable. Install Safe on your new device, connect to an existing cloud database, choose the same cloud account, and enter your master password.
If you didn't have cloud sync, the data cannot be recovered — it was stored only on the lost device. You can start a new database on a new device and rebuild your passwords gradually: import from your browser, or use "forgot password" flows on your accounts.
